Tadakuma Review - Traditional Japanese Dishes in Cagayan de Oro

It's been a few months since I've last posted in this blog. I just became busier than usual and felt a little too lazy to post something. But here I am now and I'll try to post more before 2014 ends. For my comeback post, I'll be reviewing one of my family's most frequented restaurants in Cagayan de Oro City --- Tadakuma!

Tadakuma is just in front of the future site of Ayala's Alveo Aspira Condominum at Ramon Chavez St. It's just a small place with around 10 tables and is rarely full on weeknights, but weekends might be more busy. The most eye-catching part of the place is this big and modern Yoko Ono print on the wall. Other than that, it's the cleanliness of the place that I really appreciate a lot.

Green Tea, California Maki and Tuna Sashimi

Since we eat here almost weekly, we already have our favorite dishes that we order again and again. These are their Seafood Ramen, Tuna Sashimi, California Maki, and a pot of hot Green Tea. Their Salmon Sashimi and Mixed Sushi Set are also good but are a bit expensive for normal everyday meals (you can find cheaper Salmon Sashimi in CDO at Tokyo Bubble Tea in Centrio). Their Omurice was just okay and was a bit too sour for me. Their Gyudon was also quite tasty though they could use better meat.

Those from Metro Manila would really appreciate Tadakuma's pricing as it's much cheaper than Manila restaurants that are of the same quality. Also, their Ramen serving is quite big and we make them split it into 3 bowls, and that's really filling for 3 persons especially if you also order 2 other dishes.

  1. Would you know if they serve uni sushi?

I haven't tried most, if not all, of the restaurants you reviewed here. So thank you for expanding my list of places to try in CDO. More reviews please and welcome back as well. :)

    1. Hey Brennan, thanks for dropping by! Yeah, I really hope I can post more stuff. And sadly, I don't think Tadakuma serves uni sushi. :( I'm not sure but maybe SumoSam in Centrio serves that. Will take note the next time I eat there.
